Each stallion is required to pay a yearly fee to ensure that all of his progeny conceived in the northern hemisphere are EBF eligible.

Every stallion must pay a fee equal to the average value of nominations sold to him that year. This fee is called the Standard Contribution.

The Standard Contribution is discounted to 70% for nominations sold on October 1st terms and to 60% for nominations sold on Live Foal terms.

For stallions covering larger books of mares, a graduated payment scheme is used to ensure that those stallions who are likely to have more runners will contribute more to the EBF fund.

65-85 mares         1.5 x the Standard Contribution
86-120 mares       2 x the Standard Contribution
121+ mares          3 x the Standard Contribution

A registration fee of either £100 or €150 must be paid in June each year to provisionally enter the stallion for the EBF. The registration fee is then deducted from the balance of the stallion’s full payment which is due by December 15th.

Stallions standing outside Europe can be registered to the EBF each season to ensure any of their progeny conceived that year who may race in Europe are eligible for EBF-supported races.

Stallions standing in the northern hemisphere are required to make a payment equal to 50% of the advertised fee. This fee will make all his northern hemisphere-conceived progeny of that year automatically EBF eligible.

Stallions standing in the southern hemisphere are required to make a payment equal to 25% of the advertised fee. This fee will make all of his southern hemisphere-conceived progeny of that year automatically EBF eligible.

Stallions who shuttle between both hemispheres will be required to make a payment for each separate covering season.
