The Fonds European de l’Elevage (French EBF) was delighted to support the Listed Criterium du Fonds European de l’Elevage at Deauville on Sunday August 24th.
The 1600m two-year-old contest offered €122,000 in prize money, making it the richest race sponsored by the FEE in France.
The race was won by the Freddy Head-trained Medley Chic. The son of the Cheveley Park Stud stallion Medicean made all the running to score by a length and a half from Faithful Creek (Bushranger), trained by Brian Meehan, with the favourite, Light In Paris (Aussie Rules), in third.
Bred by Petra Bloodstock, Medley Chic was purchased by head for €130,000 at the Arqana August Sale for owner Olivier Thomas. The colt was already the winner of a 1400m conditions race at Deauville in early August in which he prevailed by a short head in a four-way photo finish.
